You want what, now? Time with your family? Don't be ridiculous. [Dec. 8th, 2009|09:14 pm]

I'm one of them (Been told I must stay until 8), even though I work on checkouts and have to travel that evening.

*waves goodbye to the festive spirit, as it's obviously given up and left*

I have started looking for a new job

Well, I'm disgusted [Nov. 25th, 2009|09:58 am]
So now the banks (many of which *belong* to us) can now charge us whatever they want for going overdrawn by as little as 10p without anyone being able to check the fairness. God I love this countries legal system.

Anyone for Tenuous? (Stolen from Yagfox) [Oct. 21st, 2009|07:48 am]
Post a tenuous link to you and a celebrity.

The more tenuous the better for the link, but the tenacity of the celebrity is also important, and also a fine balance. This isn't a who's met the most famous person game, you want somebody famous enough to be known, but not an outright major star.

e.g.

The Queen of England, is bad.

Benny from Crossroads, is excellent.

My play:-

John Barrowman used to do his shopping in the Tesco that I used to work in. (The Doctor Who/Torchwood studios are behind the store)

To all those wishing to attend staffgath 09 [Aug. 12th, 2009|10:14 am]
Staffgath is fast approaching, but we've hit a slight snag and need some suggestions.
Unfortunately, the trip to the safari park on the Saturday won't now happen, due to some large corporation booking up the park for the whole day.
We are looking at alternatives, but if there is anything you would particularly like to do on the Saturday, please let Twll or myself know.

Also, some changes have been made to the staffgath website, including the ability to let us know if you'll be coming, so please go have a look

Eurovision and 'The Incredible Upholstered Man' [May. 16th, 2009|11:34 pm]
[Tags|, , ]
[Current Location |In Brum, with Jinxxy, Badgerguy, Colifox, FTW and Jackiedog]
[mood | chipper]

I have to admit, I was expecting bad things from this years Eurovision but I was most surprised. Russia pulled it off more spectacularly than anyone has for years.
I don't think the country who won (I won't spoil it for those of you who recorded it) deserved to get as many points as it got, though it was a good song. I was also surprised by how high up the UK came. I personally voted for Ulrika Johns...erm...Sweden because I think she was the best singer there tonight (And the faces she pulled were hilarious).

My biggest worry of the night was the fact that Terry Wogan, who I thought was a great commentator by the way, resigned last year in protest at the obvious block-voting that went on, consistently giving top place to some former USSR/Eastern Bloc country or other.

This year he was replaced by 'the incredible upholstered man' (or Graham Norton as he likes to call himself).
I personally hate Graham Norton's TV programmes and was convinced that he'd spend the whole contest having orgasms about somebody's dress but, I have to say, he was even better than Terry Wogan. His sarcasm was exactly what a contest like Eurovision needs and he was even more bitchy than Terry Wogan ever was. As far as I'm concerned he has my vote for Eurovision 2010 BBC commentator and if he keeps up the same sort of criticisms that he gave tonight I hope he'll do it for a long time to come.

RBW [Apr. 1st, 2009|01:04 pm]
I just thought I'd take this opportunity to announce that I will be running the Dealer's Den at RBW this year. There have been some major changes to the staff this year and all the staff, from the senior staff down, have their heads screwed on.

I look forward to working with them and am happy to have the opportunity to help make this the best RBW so far.

Disgusted of Stafford writes... [Mar. 18th, 2009|02:52 pm]
[mood | annoyed]

I don't normally jump on bandwagons, but I would strongly advise everyone to look at the article found at http://whythatsdelightful.wordpress.com/2009/03/18/the-express-wins-the-race-to-the-bottom/ and consider at least signing the e-petition.

These kids have been through the worst kind of hell and the fact that they have been able to get on with their lives is amazing.

For this 'lady' to sit in her nice air-conditioned office building somewhere in London and judge them this way is, quite frankly, the most disgusting piece of 'journalism' I've seen since the death of Princess Diana.

1. Grab the book nearest you. Right now.
2. Turn to page 56.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post that sentence along with these instructions in your LiveJournal.
5. Don't dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.

Page 56 in my book was blank, so I went with the 5th sentence from page 57. Hopefully I haven't created a blackhole somewhere...

"It's the next morning, but that's all that's changed."

Welcome to 2009 [Jan. 1st, 2009|10:53 pm]

[mood | happy]

Happy new year everyone. I hope it goes well for all of you.

Last night was spent at brumcon's new year party, which went brilliantly. Thanks go out to Colifox, Badger and Ben for once again letting us take over their home and especially to Colifox for cooking some great food for us all.
Many thanks also go out to Ember, Brumcon's resident cabaret singer, for entertaining us with his own versions of many songs. Your debut album is eagerly awaited.

Also, happy anniversary to my wonderful pooma, jinxxy, whom I have now been with for two years. I love you so much. <3

2008 review [Dec. 20th, 2008|11:02 am]
[mood | calm]

1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?

Went to a furcon (ConFuzzled to be precise) and went to Timduru's Halloween event

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

I don't even remember if I made any. This year I plan on loosing weight.

3. How will you be spending New Year's Eve?

I will be at Brumcon in, well, Brum (Birmingham to anyone outside the UK)

4. Did anyone close to you die?

Not this year, thankfully. Unless you include one of my parents cats.

5. What countries did you visit?

Wales (It's a country :P) and France

6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?

Money? I'd also like to go to Eurofurence. We couldn't afford to this year, which really disappointed both of us

7. What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

20th June 2008. That was the day Confuzzled 2008 started. I spent most of the morning working out who was sleeping in which room. While that may sound easy, it was made difficult by people in groups saying they were going to share with people in other groups and not talking to each other, leading to oversized groups of room sharers. I think the biggest group I found had about 9 people in it. Then seeing everyone queuing happily to register made it all worthwhile.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

I got on to 'Options', Tesco's management training scheme

9. What was your biggest failure?

Not getting a more meaningful job than I currently have

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

Flu in January, couple of colds, but nothing major.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

Haven't really bought anything this year

12. Where did most of your money go?

HSBC loan. I look forward to the day when I finally get that paid off so I can finally tell HSBC where to stick their account.

13. What song will always remind you of 2008?

Don't really know. I've been in to 'The Feeling' a lot this year though

14. What do you wish you'd done more of?

Spending time with Jinxxy

15. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Lazing round the house.

16. What was your favorite TV program?

Doctor Who. I personally believe Catherine Tate was the best assistant the new version has had.

17. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

I don't hate anyone to be honest, there are a couple of people I dislike but I avoid them like the plague.

18. What was the best book you read?

'Notes from a small island' by Bill Bryson

19. What was your greatest musical discovery?

Didn't make any.

20. What was your favorite film of this year?

WALL•E

21. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

I spent the day with Jinxxy and Frost T Wolf. We had to go to bed early though, because we needed to get up 2am to drive to Newhaven for the 8am ferry to Dieppe and then on to Timduru's house.

22. What kept you sane?

Sane?

23. Who did you miss?

My grandfather. He passed away in 2007.

24. Who was the best new person you met?

Met too many new people to have a favourite

25. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008:

I'll get back to you on that one...

You Are A: Kitten!

kitty catCute as can be, kittens are playful, mischevious, and ever-curious. Your mischevious side is part of what makes you a kitten, as is your dislike of getting wet! Kittens are often loving, but are known to scratch or bite when annoyed. These adorable animals are the most popular pets in the United States--37% of American households have at least one cat. Whether it is your gentle purr or your disarming appearance, you make a wonderful kitten.

You were almost a: Monkey or a Groundhog
You are least like a: Duck or a SquirrelWhat Cute Animal Are You?

And I spent all this time thinking I was canine.

1) A weak American economy

3) Sarah Palin's voice

I give up [Oct. 5th, 2008|12:32 am]
[mood | tired]

I always wondered why AOL seemed to not be doing so well in the UK. I now know why. After spending almost an hour trying and failing to get an AIM account, I sent their 'customer service' department an email, inspired by both tiredness and, to an extent, by the letter [info]tryst_fel_cath wrote to the TVLA.
